We want to wish a happy retirement to Denise Dubois, our long-time assistant to the President & CEO.
Denise began working at Webster First in November 1998, assisting President/CEO Michael Lussier. Over the years she earned a nickname – “mother of the credit union” – for her kindness and dedication to planning and coordinating almost every Webster First event during her tenure. From employee holiday parties to arranging travel for conferences, NCUA meetings, and so much more.
In addition to managing the CEO’s affairs, Denise worked with our board of directors and with NCUA to extend the borders of our field of membership all the way to Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. She was heavily involved in the development of our Worcester operations center in 2009, working closely with the contractors and designing furniture and decorations. This is just a short list of her many, many accomplishments in 26 years of employment at Webster First.
“I will miss the many challenges that would come across my desk daily, and my colleagues who were always so easy to work with,” Denise said. “Being part of the WFFCU team encouraged me to work hard and do my best. It has been such a rewarding place to work.” When asked about her retirement she said, “I am looking forward to more time with my family and friends, starting new hobbies and exercise programs, and I love knowing that I will have more time to garden.”
Denise has spent her final months at the credit union assisting with the transition of her replacement, Kelly Wakefield. Kelly recently returned to WFFCU as the Assistant to the new President/CEO, John Thomasian, after working as part of the HR team in 2014 for several years.
“I’m thrilled to return to the Credit Union to work with John and the management team!” Wakefield says. “My background in change management, HR Tech administration, and project management has prepared me to provide exceptional executive support. A workplace thrives on communication, collaboration, and a willingness to help others and that’s exactly how I plan to contribute to WFFCU’s continued success.”
Denise has developed deep connections and relationships with many of our employees and she will be missed dearly! We wish her the best of luck in her retirement!
