Winthrop Federal 'A Division of Webster First Federal Credit Union

On December 31, 2011 Winthrop Federal Credit Union officially became part of Webster First Federal Credit Union.  Throughout the following months each credit union will work around the clock to combine their core databases, products, and services together.  During the final week of March in 2012 both databases will be combined, effectively finalizing the merger of Winthrop Federal Credit Union and Webster First Federal Credit Union to form one of the strongest credit unions in Massachusetts.

Who is Webster First Federal Credit Union?

Webster First Federal Credit Union was established in 1928 to serve the families and businesses of local communities within Worcester County.  By offering low rates, great personal banking products, and exceptional customer service, Webster First is now one of the largest, strongest credit unions in Massachusetts with over $580 million in assets and over 52,000 members.  Thanks to over 80 years of hard work, Webster First is currently ranked within the top 2% of credit unions in the country in terms of strength and integrity.

Winthrop Federal Credit Union became part of the Webster First Federal Credit Union through a merger that is set to take place on December 31, 2011.  The Winthrop branch will be known as Winthrop Federal 'A Division of Webster First Federal Credit Union' effectively extending Webster First's field of service to Winthrop and the surrounding communities.

We are excited and proud to serve Winthrop and it's surrounding communities.  Webster First Federal Credit Union welcomes Winthrop Federal to the Webster First family.
 

What are the benefits to Webster First Federal Credit Union members?

Webster First members will benefit from our expanded field of service due to the new branch and ATM location in Winthrop, MA.  Members will have access to the new branch and ATM within the Winthrop market as of March 31, 2012.

Members should also know that there will be no changes at the account level for existing account holders at Webster First.

 

How will the merger affect Winthrop Federal Credit Union members?

On the surface, members won't notice a big difference.  Winthrop members will still have access to the same branch and friendly staff that have been serving you with a smile for many years.  All share accounts will remain insured through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to $250,000 as well as the excess share insurance coverage for accounts containing over the $250,000 with Massachusetts Share Insurance Company (MSIC).

What you will notice are the additional services and products to choose from, and, most importantly, the change in name to Winthrop Federal 'A Division of Webster First Federal Credit Union'.

The merger with Webster First is legally effective as of December 31, 2011 and there will be no noticeable changes in service to your accounts until March 31st, 2012.
